This Autumn, we introduced new e-bulletins for Scheme members – a natural next step in our commitment to provide useful, action-oriented information to help you manage your pension effectively. Your feedback influenced both the design and content of these updates, so thank you for helping us make them better. We hope you find them valuable.
Earlier this year, we refreshed our member newsletters. Your feedback was instrumental in shaping the new design and content – thank you! We hope you’ve enjoyed the latest issues.
2025 marked the launch of our webinar series, designed to help members get a better understanding of their rail pension. We delivered 17 webinars with 560 attendees in total. Insights you shared through other initiatives helped us shape these sessions. We’ll be running more webinars in 2026, so keep an eye on your member website for registration details.
Thank you for taking part in our annual sustainable ownership survey, where you shared your thoughts on how we invest your pension and communicate about it. Your input continues to be useful. Look out for our report on the findings, launching in early 2026.
In October, we published the latest Sustainable Ownership Member Review, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how Railpen, your Scheme’s investment manager, invested your pension in 2024. The report focuses on the sustainability and governance issues you told us matter most to you.

We’ll be running focus groups in early 2026. Interested? Keep an eye out as more details are coming soon!
As of the start of this year, we moved your pension communications online. You can now find all your pension information in your online accounts and on your member websites. You can opt back into receiving your communications in paper format if you wish. To do this, you’ll need to fill out a form on your member website.
If you’ve already told us you want to keep getting paper copies, then your preference has been recorded, and we’ll continue to contact you by post.
We launched a new suite of resources to help members plan for retirement. Our pre-retirement pack for defined benefit members is full of practical guidance on your pension options, ways to maximise savings, and what to expect from the application process.
Finally, every new joiner to the Platform group receives a welcome email inviting them to share what their pension means to them. The most common response this year was “saving for life after work.” Members also told us they value:
Being in control of their future
The benefits their pension provides
Seeing their rail pension as an investment in their future
Your answers help us understand what matters most to you - and guide how we communicate and support you.
We truly appreciate you being part of Platform and for taking the time to share your thoughts through the initiatives we’ve held this year. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us improve how we communicate about your pension.
We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2026 to make your pension communications even clearer and more useful.
