You may be eligible for Pension Credit

Dec 15, 2025
In 2024, 910,000 eligible pensioner families in the UK missed out on Pension Credit, according to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Check if you’re eligible this year, so you don’t lose out.

What is pension credit?

It’s extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over State Pension age and on a low income.

Pension credit is different from your State Pension. You may be entitled to it even if you own your own home, have other savings or income.

You may be eligible if you are:

  • a carer
  • responsible for a child or young person
  • severely disabled

You must live in England, Scotland or Wales and have reached State Pension age to qualify.

Pension Credit tops up:

  • your weekly income to £227.10 if you’re single
  • your joint weekly income to £346.60 if you have a partner

You may also get extra amounts if you have other responsibilities and costs.
