Railway Benefit Fund, supported by Railpen, is offering a free will‑writing service throughout March 2026.
The offer is open to current, former and retired railway workers, as well as their families.
Writing a will is the best way to ensure your wishes for your estate are honoured. It allows you to look after the people and causes you care about, and it can help reduce confusion or stress for your loved ones at an already difficult time.
Between 1 and 31 March, you can create a basic will - or update an existing one - at no cost to you.
The service is delivered by will‑writing specialists My Intent, and follows 3 simple steps:
To get started, visit the Railway Benefit Fund website.
Your will does not determine who receives any death benefits from your Railways Pension Scheme (RPS) pension. These benefits are paid in line with Scheme rules and the decisions of the Trustee.
Make sure your nominations are up to date
By making a nomination, you can tell the Trustee who you’d like any lump‑sum death benefits to go to if you die before you claim your pension.
It’s quick and easy to do this via your myRPS account. When you log in, go to ‘My Pension’, then click on ‘My Nominations’.
If you prefer, you can complete and return a paper nomination form instead.
Please remember to update your nominations whenever your circumstances change.
You can find more information about RPS death benefits on the reporting a member’s death page.
